The SIRIUS THEATRICAL COMPANY will again be offering both adult and youth classes beginning the week of September 8, 2008. New this fall is a daytime COMEDY SCENE STUDY / ACTING TECHNIQUE course. Our popular YOUTH PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLE will be offered on Wednesday evenings this fall so please mark Wednesdays on your calendars as your YPE ‘acting’ night. AUDITION SKILLS / MONOLOGUES / MONTHLY SCENE STUDY Learn to audition & interview successfully. Prepare monologues to audition quality. Assistance offered in choosing appropriate monologues.
Explore scenes from both text and sensory/environment perspectives, learn to
use the "environment" and physical activities to reveal more about your
character and the relationships between characters and learn how to explore
what "isn't obvious" in a scene so that your work becomes dynamic & exciting.
2. ACTORS’ GYM An opportunity for experienced actors to continue to hone their craft in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Actors are expected to work on their scenes and monologues between sessions and to be willing to work with fellow participants on cold readings, improvisation and acting exercises for mutual benefit and growth. Actors wishing to join the gym must contact the artistic director to arrange for an interview and an audition. Class size is limited to 12 actors of all ages. ONGOING: Tuesdays: 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. FALL SESSIONS: September 16 – November 4, 2008 (Possible continuation into December) FEES: To Be Determined.
3. COMEDY SCENE STUDY / ACTING TECHNIQUE An opportunity to hone your improvisation and comedic skills through exercise and scene work that will focus on comedic timing, reactions, characterization, delivery and physicality. 8 WEEK SESSION: Tuesdays: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. FALL SESSION: September 16 – November 4, 2008 FEES: $300 + GST
YOUTH ACTING CLASSES
The
Sirius Theatrical Company's new Youth Acting Classes are designed
specifically for young teens & youth. Using improvisation & acting exercises
students will develop multi- level communication skills, presentation skills
and confidence in front of an audience. Students will also work on
scenes with a variety of partners. The course will end with an
evening of scene work or the performance of a one act play.
YOUNG TEENS CLASS - Ages 12 - 16

Weeks + Performance Night Extra rehearsals may be scheduled to prepare for an end of class presentation.
